Why was Pokemon given credit since it clearly ripped off another game?
Dragon Quest 5 came out in 1992 and had Pokemon’s ideas of capturing and raising monsters 5 years ahead of its time yet since the game was Jap only and failed to get the credit it deserved at the time. Plus why did Pokemon get a wide release when they still haven’t released Dragon warrior 1-3 on any system in Australia???
And they are better then Pokemon’s paper thin storyline
You will find that many games have the same type of gameplay as other games, and that some have been more successful then others. Dragon Quest was as you said, a Japanese release only, and if your source is correct and Pokemon has the same gameplay as Dragon Quest, then Pokemon was successful where Dragon Quest wasnt. It is simply a matter of marketing or luck.
